Our Approach

Shambala is completely and utterly committed to being sustainable, circular, regenerative, net positive, earth & life respecting and future thinking too – it’s in our DNA!

We attune all of our creative, operations, and production with ambitious sustainability targets – in a world where big, multi-national events companies are often seen doing next-to-nothing. As a community, we hope all folks involved can help us tackle the world’s challenges in our utopian microcosm of society – and emerge after the event with new awarenesses, understanding and behaviours.

Our Work

Our green practices are considered truly pioneering world-wide. We have reduced the festival’s carbon footprint by over 90%, are powered by 100% renewable electricity, we’ve been meat & fish free for almost a decade, and eradicated single use plastics, over one third of you legends come on our eco-travel options, and we compost our food waste… We’ve also been independent, well – forever!

But there’s always more to learn and do – in a world of increasing urgency – so below is what we’re doing and why.

Impact Reports

“If you can’t measure it , you can’t improve it.”

Check out our interactive Reporting Platform to see what we’ve achieved so far – and also our Green Road Map for a geek-out on everything we plan to achieve by Shambala 2025 (soon to be updated for the next stage of ethical improvements!).

We’ve been busy measuring and analysing our environmental and community impacts.

Here’s some things you can do to help champion green causes…

The food on our plates has far reaching impacts.

Shambala is committed to being single-use plastic free and we’re pretty much there!

Our aim is to be the most ‘net-positive’ gathering we can be.
