Ruffnek Diskotek is a legendary Bristol based party, that’s just turned 19 years old this summer! With soundsystem music at it’s heart, Ruffnek parties have explored many sounds over the years including dancehall, soca, UK garage, dubstep, rave and more recently amapiano. Residents Atki2 and Jonesy Wales have invited Kandi Sharma to join them in a special 3 hour takeover!
Kandi Sharma, international multi genre Dj, entertains diverse crowds from Glastonbury Festival to the carnival masqueraders in the streets of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Having hosted a radio show on LUR Live for 4 years, and created regular mixtapes for BBC Sounds, Kandi also performs her original songs and models carnival costumes for Notting Hill’s Tempo Mas UK. Her journey started when she joined an all female sound system in 2007 which was created by Barrington Levys daughter and niece. With no intentions of slowing down, Kandi Sharma continues to release her own vocal tracks as well as sing, DJ and entertain globally. In the words of Kandi Sharma “Louuud Itttttt!”
Sam Atki2 is a Bristol based producer, composer, DJ, and radio presenter, who flips effortlessly between soca, house, dancehall, dubstep, IDM, and ambient, with the output always bearing his distinctive sound. He has released records on Idle Hands, Peverelist’s Punch Drunk label, Actress’s Werk Discs imprint, plus an acclaimed ambient album (2019’s Requiem). His self-released Swim Club EPs and album “Bubble On” combine dreamy dancehall instrumentals with his own illustrations and explorations of queer semiotics. He co-hosts the weekly Super Soca Show on Bristol radio station Ujima 98FM. His deep passion, soft-spoken inquisitiveness, and dedication to his craft mean that no matter what scene or genre he works in, he does it authentically.
Jonesy Wales is a DJ, Vocalist, Producer and party starter, currently between South Wales, Bristol and London. His 10+ year CV includes some of the biggest festivals in the UK including appearances at Glastonbury, Boomtown, St Paul’s and Notting Hill Carnivals and Womad. In addition to having entertained audiences around Sri Lanka and Bristol’s finest nightclubs, from the likes of Lakota and Motion to smaller intimate spaces like Cosies and The Plough. Recently, he has moved into producing music, with a keen focus on Amapiano and Soca influenced styles. Join the journey as he strives to shine a light on the best music from around the world and deliver his own stylistic interpretation of these sounds.
