We’re a bit stunned to announce that our annual ‘Flags for…’ crowdfunder has, this year, smashed all previous records to smithereens! Your generous donations dwarfed our initial target of £7,000, raising a whopping £10,591 for Unseen – an incredible charity who work to help victims of modern day slavery.
Thank you, Shambalans – you exceed our expectations every year in so many ways but you really outdid yourselves with this one. Every penny you raised will go direct to Unseen, and have an unimaginable impact of people whose lives have been impacted by modern slavery. This is a cause that doesn’t get half as much coverage or air time as it deserves, so to have so many of you rally behind this crowdfunder and pledge your support has been humbling to say the least.
To recap on the urgency of this issue, today there are more victims of forced labour in the world than at any other time in history – meaning more people are currently enslaved in the world than at the peak of the slave trade. 1 in every 200 people in the world are currently enslaved.
Unseen runs safehouses for both women and men as well as providing ongoing support to survivors living in the community. They also operate the national Modern Slavery Helpline, which offers independent advice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to those who need support to leave their exploitation.

A huge thank you also to everybody who visited Unseen’s on site nail bar at Shambala 2019, to learn more about the cause, and stick two fingers up to modern slavery.

Thank you once again, from the Shambala team and Unseen. x
